MANILA, Philippines- Vice President Jejomar Binay expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for the taking off the ban on the departure of the overstaying Filipinos in Kuwait.
In a post on his Facebook page, Binay, who is also the OFW concerns presidential adviser, said, “We are grateful to the government of Kuwait, especially to Gen. Abdullak Al-Ali, for allowing our kababayans to come home and be reunited with their families,”
The vice president also thanked the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and Philippine Embassy in Kuwait for their help in the process. It was through their efforts that the Chief of the Office of Domestic Workers Affairs in Kuwait, Al-Ali, eased the ban.
“The strong representations of our embassy officials have made it possible for our OFWs to come home. This is telling of their commitment to go the extra mile to uphold the welfare of our migrant workers,” Binay said.
There are 159 repatriated OFWs who will be arriving to the Philippines in the coming weeks following the first 30 who came last Wednesday.
