Before, it was slightly easy for qualified expats to apply Visit Visa for their parents (usually 50 years old and above). Once the required documents have been obtained and submitted accordingly, the Visit Visa will be processed.

An expat sponsor working for the government sector, earning KD 450 per month and KD 650 per month working for the private sector is qualified to sponsor immediate family member or relatives. Visit visa is approximately given for 3 months but the grantee cannot engage in any kind of work here in Kuwait.

Visa visit holders can avail of free medical services here in Kuwait. Recently however, according to sources from Arab Times, Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports Affairs, Major-General Mazen Al-Jarrah has advised to put on hold the issuance of visit visas to people over 50 years. Al Jarrah noted that the continuity of free medical services here in Kuwait availed by people over 50 years old has a negative effect on the State health services department.

Visit visas will be limited to people who have extraordinary professions; but for expat immediate family members and relatives, visit visa issuance will be on hold until further notice.
