Reports from Al – Qabas, an Arabic daily newspaper circulating in Kuwait stated that the criminal court recently passed a sentence that implied related disapproval of the measures followed by the government in issuing residency visas to expatriates. The court had to acquit some defendants accused in a case said to be the most controversial visa forgery case, because the charges pressed against them did not match the actions that happened.
According to the testimony of a witness, a police with the rank of Brigadier said that expatriate laborers working in government projects are usually brought to Kuwait using tourist visas upon the approval of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MSAL). Followed by some malpractices concerning visa issuance of some departments in the Ministry of Interior.
The witness believed that visa irregularities do not uphold the rules and regulations of Kuwait and are altogether unethical. The court urged the concerned administrative bodies to check and respond accordingly to the error in order to prevent it from happening again in the future. It is never wise to send innocent people to court or let the real criminals be free to wander.
