Donald Trump won the November 9, 2016 United States of America’s Presidential election. His supporters were definitely elated contrary to Hillary Clinton’s, while other US citizens have mixed emotions and confused decisions.
We at Kabayan in Kuwait are neither political analysts nor politics experts but closely reading the transcription of Trump’s foreign policy speech which he gave on April 27, 2016, we respect what he wants to do for his country to make it “great” again. We think every leader wants only what his best for his country and people. But we are concerned too for the number of Filipino migrant workers in the States, those who hold working visas, working under contract – fellow OFWs.
As we all know, OFWs are hardworking people and their life is not a walk on the beach. Despite and in spite of different adjustments they manage to perform their duties at work and in their own families. How secured will they be under the new U.S. presidency? What’s next?
