It has been 118 years since the Philippines has gained its Independence from Spain and over the course of time, Filipino migrants all over the world have celebrated Philippine Independence Day in 100 and one ways.

Here in Kuwait, it started with the recently held Diplomatic Night Reception at Jumeirah Beach Resort Hotel. It was well attended by Philippine Embassy officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, members of the Filipino Community and other guests. Miss Tanya Dawood, one of Kuwait’s local talents and now a newcomer in the entertainment business of the Philippines, sang the Lupang Hinirang. Her rendition of Adele’s When we were young showcased her golden voice that captivated the audience.

The fashion creations of Filipino fashion designer based in Kuwait Resty C. Lagare, were modeled by lovely young ladies from the Filipino community. Resty C. Lagare’s designs were sophisticated yet maintained the Filipino artistry known to the world.
