One-Stop Service Center Now Opens to Serve Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)

The One-Stop Service center that promised by President Rodrigo Duterte during his SONA is now open for business. In response to the President Duterte’s orders to streamline and make it easier for OFWs to avail the services of the government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) opens the first one-stop service center for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). According to POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, the newly opened center includes representatives from various agencies with services that are all “relevant to OFWs,” and is now ready to serve as many as 2,000 to 3,000 OFWs daily….

SSS and Phil Health Contribution Rates Rises

Aside from higher sin taxes, transport fares and gasoline, the New Year also signaled the beginning of the new contribution rates of pension fund Social Security System (SSS) and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). Effective January 2014, PhilHealth members who are currently employed will now contribute P200 per month from only P175 last year, while self-employed members will shell out P200 a month from P150. House to probe PhilHealth and SSS premium increase

The House of Representatives will inquire into the recent increase in the premium contributions of millions of members of the Social Security System (SSS) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth). The committee on good government and public accountability will handle the inquiry. The investigation was prompted by Resolution 660, filed by Reps. Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate of Bayan Muna, and Antonio Tinio of Alliance of Concerned Teachers.
