SM Supermalls together with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) signed a Memorandum of Undertaking for the establishment of the Balik-Manggagawa Processing Center in selected SM Global Pinoy Centers (GPCs).
The partnership aims to provide convenience to returning OFWs whenever they secure their Exit Permit, also known as the OEC. Through the establishment of a satellite processing center in SM malls, OFWs no longer need to join the long queue at POEA since the OEC will now be more accessible to them.
SM City Manila is the very first satellite OEC Processing Center and soon, more SM GPCs nationwide will be offering this service.
“This joint undertaking with POEA and OWWA is a milestone not only of the SM Global Pinoy Center but for all OFWs. The POEA realized they needed to improve their services and they should have a partner to support their advocacy for OFWs to have an easy access to OEC Processing. They found a partner in SM Supermalls. The OEC Processing service will soon be made available for OFWs at SM Global Pinoy Centers in SM malls nationwide. This is the first that this service is brought outside the POEA through SM’s Global Pinoy Center” says Mr. Glenn Ang, Vice President for Operations and Program Director of the SM Global Pinoy.
SM employees with vacationing OFW relatives who need to process their exit permits can now visit the Global Pinoy Center.
