As OFWs working and living in the host country, we encounter many difficulties as we perform tasks assigned to us. Unfortunately sometimes too, there are fellow OFWs whose safety, self confidence and dignity have been compromised. We expect them to be rescued from abuse and maltreatment and taken to the shelter.
But have we even just once think that while conducting rescue mission, their lives are in danger too? The speech of Labor Attache Atty. Cesar Chavez Jr. at the recent Community Night – Gabi ng Pasasalamat 2105 was something to ponder about.
Labatt Chavez shared that once during their rescue mission, Ms. Dina and her ward’s safety were almost compromised by the employer and companions chasing after them. The employer and companions tried to take the OFW away from Ms. Dina but the two women locked themselves in an embrace while Ms. Dina vehemently told them that they are from POLO OWWA and on official duty.
POLO OWWA Kuwait tries its best to help OFWs and be of assistance in the best way they can. They too need our cooperation to ensure safety from any harm.
Congratulations on a well attended Community Night 2015.
