Pinoy worker’s family receives wrong coffin from Saudi
The family members of an OFW who died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were dismayed after the coffin they received at the cargo terminal of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 contained an Arab looking cadaver.
Jose Dwight Lucente of Etihad Airlines, said that the cadaver arrived on board their aircraft last Feb. 3, 2016 labeled as “Danilo Yambao Patawaran”, and was claimed by his family and brought to San Simon, Pampanga.
The family was shocked and scared to discover that the cadaver in the coffin was not Danilo, after the funeral parlor personnel opened the casket. The family immediately returned the casket to the Etihad Airlines cargo for proper disposal. The Patawaran family is hoping that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will take an immediate action to repatriate the cadaver of Danilo back to the country as soon as possible.
Domingo Patawaran, the father of Danilo confirmed that the cadaver that was placed in the coffin was not his son.
Danilo was 30 years old and was working as an Aluminum engineer when he died due to a heart attack.
An email from Saudi Arabia reported that the body of Danilo is in the hospital where he died.
The airline is waiting for an advisory from the main office before the cadaver will be sent back to Saudi Arabia.
