The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) in a statement said that it has released special stamps for the coming Year of the Horse in line with the observance of the Chinese zodiac. Chinese New Year is on January 31, 2014 which marks the start of the Year of the Wood Horse and lasts till February 18, 2015.

The stamps were first issued on December 2, with the P10 stamps featuring the stylized head of a horse and the stylized horse priced at P30.  Some 7,000 pieces of souvenir sheets priced at P80 each are also available.

“Chinese Astrology uses one’s birthday and birth time to predict their fortune. The astrological birth chart is built by the Chinese Astrology Calendar, which is a combination counting system of Yin-Yang, Five Elements and 12 animals,” PhlPost said.

PHLPOST in-house layout artists Jose Antonio A. Jayme and Jan Michael A. Manuel sketched the Year of the Horse stamps each measuring 40mm X and the printing was done by Amstar Co. Inc.
