At noon today, June 30, 2016, Philippines’ time, the 16th President – elect of the Republic, Rodrigo Roa Duterte was sworn into office at the Rizal Hall of Malacanan Palace in Manila, in the presence of about 600 guests from the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the government, business and private sectors. It was an inauguration full of symbolism as well as simplicity.

President – elect Rodrigo Duterte proudly wore above his left breast, the miniature replica of the Philippine flag, which many have noticed is the most appropriate reverence he could give the Filipino people who put their trust in him during the recently held presidential elections. Present to witness the inauguration were his four children, Sarah, Paolo, Sebastian and Veronica.

In his inaugural speech, President Duterte said that the problem lies in the fact and truth that the Filipino people have lost faith in the government and he reassuringly encouraged the people to cooperate and help rebuild the Philippines through better changes.

Internationally – acclaimed singer Mr. Freddie Aguilar revised some lyrics to one of his hit songs, “Ipaglalaban Ko” to show his support to the new government and to every Filipino’s dream of peace and prosperity.

It should be note that here in Kuwait, Duterte won a landslide victory thru Overseas Absentee Voting and OFWs in Kuwait have felt triumphant about the recent election results.
