Kuwait Cabinet to Implement Amir Guidelines on Reforms

cabinetKUWAIT: The Cabinet recently tasked a special ministerial commission to implement His Highness the Amir’s recent guidelines to the government to press ahead with full-scale reforms and boost development and realize citizens’ aspirations. The committee was formed during the weekly Cabinet session, held at SeifPalace, under chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Following the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah stated that the recent guidelines and purposeful advises by HH the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as the government relevant approach, would be reciprocated with serious commitment that would warrant, on part of the government, to exert “maximum effort to implement them for sake of realizing the aspired reform” and put vital projects on track of execution.

These ventures will be carried out according to a “new scientific and realistic method that will secure follow-up mechanisms and assessment and activation of the reward and punishment principle that will lead the government to a new phase rich in achievements and effective performance, thus realizing the aspired national objectives and meeting the citizens’ aspirations,” he added. The Cabinet, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah continued, tasked a ministerial committee, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to map out executive plans for translating HH the Amir guidelines and the government pledges, in this respect into, action.

The panel includes as members the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs. The ministers, during the session, reviewed HH the Amir’s recent speeches, namely his address at inaugural session of the parliament 14th legislative term, as well as the statement that had been made by HH the Prime Minister during the meeting.

The Acting Premier praised great value of HH the Amir address at the parliament, namely his purposeful advises to the government for sake of full-scale reforms, boosting development and meeting citizens’ aspirations. Moreover, the minister indicated at the government pledge, in the statement made by HH the Premier, in front of HH the Amir, including broad-lines of the government forecast action. Also during the Cabinet session, the ministers finalized formation of higher specialized panels and permanent committees, pending distribution of jurisdictions.

At start of the session, HH the Premier thanked all state departments for organizing the 2013 parliament elections that were distinguished with freedom, calmness and “honest brotherly competition thus reflecting Kuwait’s civic image and its deep-rooted belief in democracy.” The ministers were informed about HH the Amir order to task HH the Premier to head the State delegation at the upcoming 68th session of the UN General Assembly, representing HH Sheikh Sabah.

They were briefed about a message addressed to His Highness from Egypt’s interim president, Adly Mansour, informing HH about conditions in his nation and efforts for restoring security and stability of the country. They also examined messages to HH the Amir from the presidents of Turkey, Burundi and Malaysia’s premier on keenness to enhance bilateral ties. Various political issues at the Arab and international levels were also addressed. – KUNA
