Two Filipino organizations here in Kuwait recently held a joint feeding program and gift giving project at the Philippine Embassy Hateen for distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OWFs). There are many distressed OFWs at the Hateen Shelter who are awaiting repatriation to the Philippines.
Most of them are women who have runaway from their employers because of maltreatment, poor working and living conditions, unpaid salary among others. Some have children with them while others are too old and sickly to work.
Ilokana Women’s Organization in Kuwait (IWOK) and Filipino Association for Music and Arts (FAMA) share their blessings with others, most especially with distressed OFWs because they believe that this is their way of giving back to the community of Filipinos here in Kuwait.
