In rich GCC countries like Kuwait, everyone must carried their Civil ID or locally known as ‘Bataka’ – an identification card where most if not all of the bearer’s information where stored. An ID card that must be presented in every transaction that you’ll make – it may be in private or public.
Every now and then, the police in uniform could check your civil ID and you are required to present it to them. So it’s very important not to forget your bataka before you leave your home, not even if you’re just want to throw your garbage on the other side of the road.
And here’s a link of the website to check the validity of your Bataka or if you want to inquire about your Civil ID status, you can go to e.gov.com.kw
Moreover, if you are using an iPhone, the Kuwait Ministry of Interior (MOI) has released an iPhone app where everyone (Local and Expats) can inquire on different tasks like Personal Inquiry, Traffic Violations, E-Payment, Residency and Immigration Violations, Driving License inquiry and etc. Kindly check the FREE app here.
