The awardees were Segundino Revita of Rosales town for the Model OFW Family of the Year category, Jose Soriano from Mangaldan, Special Award for Community Involvement and Heriberto Claudio from Bayambang, Special Award for Entrepreneurship.
Alex Ferrer, Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO) chief, said the provincial government has launched innovative projects focused on the welfare of the overseas workers.
Recently, the provincial government under Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. forged a partnership with the OWWA for the establishment of the OFW Family Federation in Pangasinan.
Espino also created about two years ago an OFW Center located at the PESO office manned by two regular desk officers to cater to the various needs of Pangasinan OFWs.
Their success stories will serve as a guiding light for others to overcome the difficulties of migration and further enhance the image of OFW Families in the community.
The Model Overseas Filipino Worker’s (OFW) Family of the Year Award (MOFYA) is an annual event of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). This 2014 will be its 10th year. The objective is to give recognition to OFWs and their families who have demonstrated financial stability, steady and enduring family ties, outstanding community service and success in business venture.
