Filipinos in Kuwait joins beach Clean-up on Labor Day

KUWAIT CITY, May 3, 2014: Last labor day, under the guidance of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Filipinos in Kuwait expressed their enthusiasm by having a beach-clean-up activity near McDonalds cornice.


Atty Cesar Chavez Jr., the Philippine Labor Attaché, commended all the Overseas Filipino Workers across the globe for their competence, industry and hard work. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz cited the world-class quality of Overseas Filipino Workers: their dedication, perseverance and tenacity. The OFW’s had made valuable contributions in society and nation building both in the Philippines and overseas.

Philippine Consul General Atty Raul H. Dado, Assistant labor Attache Florencia Ardavilla, Assistant Labour Attache Angelita Narvaes, Welfare Officer Norlita Lugtu, DSWD Welfare Attache Anie Mendoza and other POLO-OWWA and Embassy staff joined Chavez in the commemoration.


Every member of the participating organizations joined as the event was started with a Zumba routine warm up led by fitness Instructor and Morning talk Host and producer ricky Laxa. Then, everyone picked and collected trash armed with their huge plastic bags.


Sharif Ibrahim, the newly-elected President of FIL-ASEAK said it was one way of giving back for the Filipinos in Kuwait to the country by taking care of Kuwait’s environment. The Pinoy Nurses Association also set up a medical help desk where all participants can have a free blood pressure check-up.


The clean-up ended with a breakfast get-together for everyone.
