Fake Maid’s Office Busted
Residency Affairs Department detectives arrested 31 Ethiopians on charges of running a bogus domestic helpers’ office, and using it to trade in absconding domestic workers. Investigations revealed that the suspects ‘sold’ the maids they harbored for prices ranging between KD 90 and KD 250, and that they gave clients fake receipts in the names of several bogus offices. All detainees were sent to the proper authorities for further action. General Department for Residency Affairs urged Citizens and Expatriates to deal with only licensed domestic labor offices in order to avoid being cheated. It requested those with information about such bogus domestic offices to contact General Department for Residency Affairs.
