Eid Al Adha is also known as Feast of Sacrifice and is one of two religious traditions celebrated yearly by Muslims the world over. It commemorates the obedience of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in order to submit to Allah’s will. But even before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, the angel Jibra-il told him that Allah has already accepted his sacrifice.
Here in Kuwait, Eid celebrations is a time for family gatherings for all Muslims and a special occasion for children. A time for good food while exchanging stories and simply catching up about life and family.
For expats here in Kuwait, the government has given 5 days holiday and work starts on September 28th. It is also a time to rest, bond with family and friends. The seaside and other beach front are favorite places for picnics.
