Amiri Pardon granted to a Thousand inmates
One thousand one hundred (1,100) prisoners from different detention centers and jails all over Kuwait will be released on an Amiri Pardon, according to reliable sources. Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khaled Al-Sabah has signed the lists that include prisoners who are to be immediately released, while the others’ serving time would be lessened, dropping financial fines and cancelling deportation of expats related to Kuwaiti nationals,” explained the sources.
The sources explained originally, there were 2,500 files screened for 3 months before submitting the list of 1,100 names to Sheikh Mohammed, who in turn submitted it to the Amiri Diwan.
It is of importance to know as well that the Amiri pardon condition includes not having benefited from previous pardons, to have good conduct while in detention / jail, not to be imprisoned in relation to murders (unless pardoned by the victim’s family), not to be indebted to others (unless they reach a settlement) and not to be imprisoned in relation to state security or drug cases.
Ministry of Health has reportedly given orders to medical staff at all public medical facilities in Kuwait to give priority treatment to prisoners and expatriates waiting for deportation.
