ABS-CBN bags 8 awards at 35th Catholic Mass Media Awards

MANILA — ABS-CBN bagged eight trophies at the recently held 35th Catholic Mass Media Awards, which recognizes programs that promote Filipino and Christian values.

The Kapamilya network received four awards in the television categories: Best TV Special for the documentary “San Pedro Calungsod,” Best Talk Show for “Bottomline with Boy Abunda,” Best Public Service Program for “Pinoy True Stories: Saklolo,” and Best Station ID for ABS-CBN TV7 Palawan’s “Kwento Ng Pasko” Christmas Station ID.

DZMM’s “Failon Ngayon,” which is anchored by Ted Failon, was named Best News Commentary program for a second year in a row.

Winning Best Public Service Radio Ad was “DZMM Bantay Lakbay,” a radio promo that aired during the Holy Week in 2012. Recognized for its concept and production was ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management.

IT TAKES A MAN AND A WOMANThe Kapamilya film outfit, Star Cinema, also took home a trophy for the 2013 blockbuster film “It Takes a Man and a Woman,” which was named Students’ Choice for Best Film.

In the music category, ABS-CBN won the Best Inspirational Song award for “Kuya Pedro,” a song written and performed by Jamie Rivera under Star Records honoring San Pedro Calungsod.

Held annually, the CMMA is awarded to media products across platforms “that enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and professional use of mass media techniques and to promote the Christian values.”
